One of my goals for this year is to eat more fruit and veggies. Salted Dark Chocolate Almond Dip is the perfect accompaniment to fruit!
Disclosure: I was asked to participate in the #TasteTruvia campaign as a member of the Healthy Aperture Blogger Network. I received samples and was compensated for my time.
I have a killer sweet tooth and will honestly say that. I can not resist a cookie, brownie, or piece of chocolate. It is a real struggle and a struggle that has caused my weight to fluctuate all my life. I turned 40 in August. Now that I have entered the 4th decade of my life I know that as I age I may be faced with heath issues like diabetes because I have a family history if I don’t normalize my weight and decrease the sugar in my diet.
Many of my clients have the same struggle and the same need to lower their sugar intake. The new 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend limiting added sugars to less than 10 percent of your total daily calories. Calorie-free sugar substitutes, as stated by the guidelines, can help reduce the risks associated with increased sugar consumption.
Truvia Natural Sweetener is a natural, zero-calorie sweetener made with stevia leaf extract. Stevia leaf extract is the sweetest portion of the stevia leaf. One packet of Truvia offers the same sweetness as two teaspoons of sugar.
Truvia is perfect for individuals like me who are trying to reduce sugar in their diets to reduce their weight, but also diabetics, and weight loss surgery patient who may be sensitive to sugar. Truvia comes in various count packets and a spoonable jar. Truvia is available nationwide in grocery stores and club stores, such as Costco, Sam’s Club, and BJ’s.
In addition to struggling with my sweet tooth, I didn’t grow up eating a ton of fruit and veggies. I really need to make a conscious effort to consume the recommended 5 servings of fruits and veggies each day. If I don’t plan out my day and make a point to eat plants I will just grab more protein and grains rather than plants.

This year I have several health goals, one of which is to eat more plants. I like fruit but enjoy eating fruit a bit more when mixed or dipped into something fun like a higher protein dip. Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt Yogurt Fruit Dip combines all my favorite ingredients, gives me extra protein, and something fun to enjoy with fruit.
In this dip, almond butter and Icelandic yogurt provide an excellent source of protein. Why Icelandic yogurt? You can use Greek Style yogurt, both are rich in protein, but Icelandic is thicker. I prefer the thickness of Icelandic and find that the dip doesn’t get too runny.

I'm with you on the Icelandic yogurt, the texture is just even more creamy and satisfying than regular Greek yogurt. This dip looks delicious!

Hi Jennifer - I'm with you in trying to eat more plants this year. I love that your dip is served with fresh fruit but also includes that dark chocolate taste that I crave!!! Thanks for the great ideas of the Icelandic yogurt (which I have never tried) and the Truvia (which I have tried and is delicious!)

Glad you were able to get some ideas Allie!

This looks fabulous and I'm going to try it! I just want to clarify, it is 2 total cups of yogurt, correct? I like the Icelandic yogurt too! Is it also called skyr? Thanks!
Jennifer Lynn-Pullman says
1 cup only! Thanks for asking Melanie. I made a typo!
