Looking for a lighter calorie sandwich spread? Are you tired of plain old mayo or mustard? Sabra has just introduced spreads in convenient squeeze bottles. Sabra's Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper Spread compliments the roast beef in my Roast Beef Italiano Wrap perfectly.
“I received free samples of Sabra Spreads mentioned in this post. By posting this recipe I am entering a recipe contest sponsored by Sabra and am eligible to win prizes associated with the contest. I was not compensated for my time.”
I received three samples of Sabra Spreads: Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper, Garlic Herb, and Honey Mustard. Each spread contains only 35 calories per tablespoon, 2.5 grams fat, 2-3 grams carbohydrates, and 1 gram of protein. Sabra spreads contain fewer calories, about 75% less fat than most regular mayonnaise brands, and have a smidgen of protein.
The day I received my samples I opened each one and tasted them. Right away I knew exactly what pairings I would make with each: Honey Mustard with chicken or ham, Garlic Herb with fresh mozzarella, and Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper with beef. I really enjoyed each variety. Each spread has a nice bold flavor that would liven up any sandwich recipe.
I push a lot of protein with my patients. Sabra spreads add an additional 1 of protein. Of course, this depends on how much spread you add to your sandwich. For this wrap, I cover the entire wrap, which requires about 1-1 ½ tablespoons of spread. Taking the spread out to the edges of the tortilla will help your wrap sandwich stay together. The spread will act like glue. You get about 30 grams of high-quality protein from this sandwich. Now that's a pretty decent lunch!
